Attend Law School In California

Top 6 reasons to Start Your Legal Career at Western State University

  1. 10,000 alumni
We are the oldest law school in Orange County, California, serving the community for over 43 years. Our 10,000 graduates have distinguished themselves as jurists, lawmakers, district attorneys, public defenders and civil practitioners. According to the Daily Journal, 170 of California’s judicial officers graduated from Western State University, more than any other law school. Alumni serve as mentors to our students and help arrange a variety of internship and externship placements; graduates enter the workplace well prepared and well connected.
  2. Small classes, accessible faculty
We are a small private school, with around 400 students. The faculty to student ratio is under 20 to 1; professors have open door policy and are highly accessible, encourage students to visit their office or email. Students receive personal attention and support from faculty and staff.
  3. Great location
WSU is located in beautiful Orange County, California, about 30 miles from metropolitan Los Angeles. We enjoy a year-round Mediterranean climate, diverse culture, thriving economy, and healthy job market. Other attractions include a wealth of recreational activities and proximity to the major legal and financial institutions based in Southern California. The law school is located in the suburban college town of Fullerton, just across the street from California State University’s campus.
  4. Diverse student body
Western State University welcomes and promotes a culturally, ethnically rich and diverse student body. Current minority enrollment is 35% of the total, enrollment of women and men is approximately even, and a significant number of our students are mid-career professionals with years of prior work experience.
  5. Real-world, hands-on experience
The Business Law Center, Criminal Law Practice Center, Civil Practice Legal Clinic, and externships provide students with practical experience that builds skills for legal practice and enhances their professional resume.
  6. Generous scholarships
Most of our scholarships are merit based. Students with a strong undergraduate record and LSAT scores above our median may qualify for a scholarship – from 25% to 50% of tuition or more. All admitted students are automatically considered for awards. With the high cost of a legal education, this can be an important consideration for many students.
