WSU Dean Bill Adams on ABA Accrediation
This a particularly exciting time at to be Western State because we have just finally received our full accreditation from the American Bar Association. This permits us to do even more things. We’ll still be this great school that cares about its students and tries to make sure that all of our students succeed, however, we’ll be able to appeal to a broader group of students from all across the country because now, with full accreditation, a graduate of Western State will know that they can take a bar exam in any state in the country, so I hope that we’ll be able to draw students from all across the country in greater numbers. That won’t change our commitment to being a school that cares about the success of its students, and it won’t change the relationship we have with our alums, but I just think it will make it stronger and enhance the experience that students at Western State will get.
I think this school is poised to go to another level now. I’m hoping that we can add some more programs and do some things to take the law school to the next level.
I do anticipate in the next few years that we’ll continue to look at specialty areas of the law where we can develop expertise and programs. We already have a business law center and a criminal s as well. In my past have directed international programs, so I hope in the next couple of years to work with the faculty to add some study abroad programs for our students which would I think be desirable for them both from an educational level, and also it’s important for them I think just to learn some things about other cultures and other places.
