WSU Student Wins Honorable Mention in CA Bar Writing Competition

Julie Branch (WSU Class ’10) was recently notified by the Executive Committee of the Criminal Law Section of the California State Bar Association that she was awarded an Honorable Mention in their 2010 Student Paper Competition.  Ms. Branch’s paper for the writing competition is entitled “Two thousand feet from another ‘Jessica’ or one step too far under the Constitution?"  The article will be published in the near future in the Criminal Law Journal.

In addition to being a top student at WSU, Ms. Branch was President of the Criminal Law Association in 2008-09, and is currently Articles Editor of the Law Review.  She has also taken summer legal courses in Vienna, Austria; served as an extern in the Major Fraud Unit of the Orange County District Attorney’s office; and worked with a criminal defense attorney on a noteworthy gang-related federal case.
