Western State Alums Featured at Women Lawyers' 35th Anniversary

Recent graduate Mallory Miller was presented with the Orange County Women Lawyers 2011 Bar Stipend Award at the Organization’s 35th Anniversary Dinner on May 19th, at the Newport Beach Marriott.

The event was emceed by former Orange County Bar Association President Jennifer Keller of Keller Rackauckas, and marked the Orange County debut of newly appointed California Supreme Court Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye. OCWLA President Melinda Bell (WSU Class of 2005) used the occasion to recount the organization’s storied history which mirrored both the maturity of the Orange County legal community and the real gain in numbers and influence of its women practitioners. Among the association’s former presidents appearing in a filmed valedictory of association’s three decades were Marjorie Edwards (Class of 1970), Terese Oliver (Class of 1978), Debra Cotten (Class of 1996) and Ann Andres (Class of 1973). Miller was a Student Repre-sentative to the OCWLA board as well as a co-President of Western State’s Women’s Law Association.
